June is Your Chance to Change Someone’s Life
So, June is Seniors Month; 30 recognized days in which we have an opportunity to show how we value our seniors as vibrant members of our society. Of course, many of us would agree that we should show this appreciation all year round and this is indeed the stand that ACS takes as we offer multiple services to seniors, such as our friendly social seniors group, our security reassurance services, and our friendly visiting program in which volunteers regularly visit a senior who may otherwise feel isolated and lonely.
The purpose of this blog is not to bombard readers with calls to volunteer, but in this case, we simply cannot help it. June is a perfect time to start making a difference in someone’s world, and in yours. School is out this month, and you simply cannot beat the weather. The best part of all is our friendly visitors program doesn’t just offer companionship to the seniors who receive the visits, but to the volunteers as well.
But enough hassling you to volunteer, because it’s bragging time. Over the past year, ACS volunteers have made over 4300 Security Reassurance calls to seniors, 362 Lunch Group meets, and almost 2200 Friendly Visits. That’s a lot for one year, and we cannot thank our volunteers enough for the fantastic work they do to help so many individuals. But now it’s your turn. June is already well underway, but make it a point to do just one thing to support a senior you know. And when you’re done that, go ahead and brag about it on social media – show the world how #IAMACS
