Security Reassurance & Friendly Visiting
Senior isolation and loneliness is a serious risk for many. As we age, we may find ourselves with no family and no one to ask, “How are you today?”
The Security Reassurance and Friendly Visiting programs provide seniors with regular contact with their community and reassure them that they are not alone.
Our Security Reassurance program sees friendly volunteers and staff make regular phone calls to check on the well-being of seniors.
Daily/weekly contacts decrease the risk and anxiety associated with living alone.
For those of us interested in something more personal than a phone call, the Friendly Visiting program pairs trusted volunteers with isolated seniors. The pairing then meet regularly to go on shopping trips, go out to lunch, play cards, or simply sit and converse.
Seniors can call us for more information or sign up for the program.
Friendly Social Seniors Congregate Dining
Finding a fun social outing with a friendly group of folks isn’t always easy. Here in Amherstburg though, we host the Friendly Social Seniors Congregate Dining Group. This group of older adults and seniors meets on the 2nd and 4th Friday of each month. Lunch is always included, and activities vary from art classes, to shopping outings, to informative presentations by local organizations. Indeed, the program is perfect for seniors looking to make friends and enjoy a social outing.
